I'm inspired by Nature's Order the overlapping of leaves and crisscrossing of branches is similar to the crisscrossing in the attempted "flow" of city-people as they zigzag and manipulate their way through a maze of obstacles. What on the surface may seem to be random or chaotic on closer examination is ordered and precise. It is not the actual structure of nature that most profoundly affects me, but the precision with which components of these structures are organized. I see order within the spatial relationships between objects. I take these elements out of their normal context and utilize them in my paintings, calling on Nature’s arrangements as I paint.
